No Arms in the Arts Book Club
No Arms in the Arts Book Club is a free, hybrid event series featuring the writers who have withdrawn from the Giller Prize — which is funded by Scotiabank, Indigo, and the Azrieli Foundation — as an act of solidarity with Palestine. Taking place within a growing movement of writers who refuse to let their work be used to artwash genocide, this conversation will ground readers in the aesthetic considerations, ethical commitments, and material consequences of a literature that is rooted in liberation.
Upcoming Events
Boycott Giller Broadcast
Join CanLit Responds and No Arms In The Arts for the Boycott Giller Broadcast on November 17 at 7:30PM ET / 5:30PM MT / 4:30PM PT — featuring panels, readings, comedy, and musical performances. We are hosting this online fundraiser and variety show on Twitch at the same time as the Giller Prize’s 2025 award ceremony live broadcast, in solidarity with fellow authors and book workers who are boycotting the Prize, and with Palestinians facing a genocide that is actively supported by the Giller’s past and present sponsors (Scotiabank, Indigo Books, and the Azrieli Foundation). While the Giller Prize awards $100,000 to a single author, all funds raised during the Boycott Giller Broadcast will be donated to Palestinian writers Yahya Al Harmana, Shahd Alnaami, and Heba Elnaami, as well as their families in Gaza. E-transfer donations can be made to poetry4gazaTO@gmail.com
Tune in to the broadcast here: https://www.twitch.tv/deltahead_

Delve into the principles of miyo-wîcêhtowin (good relations), wîtaskêwin (peaceful living together), and tâpwêwin (truth-telling), and explore how these teachings require us as writers and beings on this land to hold institutions accountable and speak out in the face of injustice.
